4 months of renovations

It’s been 4 months since we purchased our little ranch straight from the 1960s! It’s amazing (and exhausting) to see just how much we’ve accomplished in those 4 months, including (but not limited to)…

landscaping (the backyard was a jungle with tons of overgrown weeds and brush)

stripping off the old shingle siding

removing wall sheathing and replacing old insulation with Roxul

tearing down the old 1-car garage

completely stripping the roof down to the rafters and reinforcing them (with a truss-like structure)

covering the roof rafters with new ZIP board

removing everything from the basement (including the old staircase, ducting, wires, gas pipes, furnace, hot water heater, and old electrical panel)

removing all interior trim, doors, windows, and 2 interior walls to open up the living room and kitchen

installing all new wiring and electrical panel and feed

building a new master suite where the old garage was

excavating and building a 2.5 car attached garage

furring out the old 2×4 walls to add extra insulation

replacing all the windows

and then sheetrock, paint, flooring, etc… and here’s where we are now! Give it another 2 weeks and we should be able to start moving our things in, just in time for the holidays 🙂
